GQOM Music! Apocalyptic polyrhythmic bass on the darker side of electronics, between afrotech, dubstep, kwaito and deep tribal, tied to a local dance called bhenga. As Nan Kolè puts it: “It’s riot music." Derived from an Zulu word signifying a drum, “gqom” - in the local slang - “da sound u get wen u drop a rock on tiles”.
