Only Mozart can make an instrument come alive as he does in this concerto. I wanted to really explore all the possibilities with a recent VST clarinet I have been learning in this arrangement.

There is a passage from Out of Africa where this piece is referenced as Denys was inclined to bring three rifles, supplies for a month, and Mozart on safari. This piece has always spoken to me from the first time I heard it.

Although created for Stadler who had an extended range bass clarinet, it was years before it was realized with new instruments designed with the extended range to low C. Perhaps I will redo this when I can afford to add the bass to my bevy of VSTs. Until then, I have taken the liberty of transposing a few of the lower notes into the higher octave, and perhaps, even cover all three movements someday.

I gracefully and humbly submit this study from the Adagio section of this brilliant concerto for your enjoyment. I hope that it tickles your ears as much as it has mine for so many years. :-))
