Developed in the late 1960s, when music pioneers such as Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock combined jazz harmonies and improvisations with rock music, funk and R&B, soul-jazz and fusion became the most popular form of jazz in the 1970s. When the musical boundaries were torn down, there was no longer any limit to creativity: jazz merged with soul, funk, latin or disco and became the pulsing heartbeat of a decade. Fusion was not just about musicianship and groove, but about the right attitude as well. As Miles Davis said: "Anybody can play. The note is only 20 percent. The attitude of the motherfucker who plays it is 80 percent."

For "Crunching Beats" DiMano compiled some of the finest and most timeless fusion grooves from the vaults exclusivly for Late Night Dream. So listen and feel the pulse of decade when jazz grooves ruled the world.
