UNDERGROOVE
1977 Both Frankie Knuckles and Larry Levan were in the Loft of New York not only to celebrate the famous parties from David Mancuso but also to check his new way of introducing music using the so called Beat Matching. These two appreciated things were to become the beginning of clubbing and club culture.
Frankie did the start end of the 70’s or the beginning of the 80’s at the Warehouse of Chicago giving the name of Chicago House Parties.
Larry was on the go too but only in 1982 did he introduce a new form of house parties playing sounds and music witch was not realy combined to Funk and Disco and not really crossovering sounds from the electric scene from Europe like Chicago House but fusing Soul and R&B giving a personal touch in sound fusion, thanks also to the unique sound given at the Paradise Garage in New York where he was resident. This, from him, produced sound got the name of the same location and so the beginning of Garage House Music took it’s go.
I’m going to mix Garage starting with that song he always played and starting with that sound played that was not yet Garage (Philadelphia & New Jersey Soul) grooving into Garage it’s self just to give you the feeling of how it could have been.
