DJ Peter Calandra

I cut my teeth on club music in the mid-late seventies and have been programming music for a wide variety of crowds for the past 35+ years.

I am a multi-genre music collector, a DJ and an audiophile working within the night club scene in Portland OR. I have a strong passion for multi-tempo music and melodies. The biggest influencers on my style of mixing are DJ Robbie Leslie, the late DJ Jim Burgess (NYC), the late DJ Roy Thode (NYC) as well as producer Vince Clarke.

If you ask me to pick a specific year, hour & place to magically return to for one final dance party, it would have to be 1978 at 6:00am at 12West in NYC. My favorite sounds include all forms of latin percussion, disco, nu-disco, house and EDM, interlaced with Chopin and Mozart.

My style of mixing is unconventional - old school and I prefer to mix out of a double chorus rather than use a formulaic outro. The element of surprise is the ace in my back pocket.

My program of choice is Traktor Pro and I use a Mac.
