Wake up with a new set from NYC-based DJ James Park for 5 Mag's weekly RISE mix ☀️

James Park is a music lover, record collector, and DJ who has been DJing in NYC for 10 years.

He was inspired first by DJ Day, Gilles Peterson, and Mr. Muro and then by living in cities with world-class music: Chicago and New York. His goal is to always take his listeners on a sound journey from beginning to end, taking them through different parts of the world through a sound system or a pair of headphones.

This mix is recorded live from his "Let's Move!" party, which he co-founded with Sana Fujimura. The party is dedicated to highlighting the representation of Asian DJs and cultural identity. This hour-long mix was recorded all on wax at Moodring in Bushwick on 8/8/24. Through the mix, he goes through Detroit, West Africa, India, Korea, Thailand, and an electric variety of sounds.
