Wave Mania

Richmond Hill, Canada

James Wilkins is the producer behind Wave Mania, who has been producing music for the last 20+ years. James was born in Scarborough, Ontario, in 1975. Since birth, his parents said they could see he loved music - always dancing to commercial tunes (ignoring the TV otherwise). Over time, as he started to take more interest in music, his parents decided to buy him a very small kids Casio keyboard (little over 24 small keys). He would eventually go on to spend many hours composing and playing with the built-in voice sampling, instruments, and drum arrangements. By the late 80's he began to take private piano lessons, which further fueled his passion for music.

In 1992 James was singled out from his grade 10 class at Sir Wilfrid Laurier Collegiate to help the grade 9 students with a musical. The students would eventually work with a professional composer/musician, and a professional Indian choreographer to represent the school for a musical. Since then, in the interest of composing more songs, he asked himself one question: What makes a #1 song, a #1 song?? His goal was to find the answer, to make every song he releases a number #1 song - not just 1 or 2 on a CD of a dozen songs.

In 1993 James started to take a strong interest in "tracking" (composing) "Mod" based music. He has since spent 6-7 years re-mixing songs, studying #1 hits, taking more music lessons, joining a local band (playing the keyboard, guitar, bass, or drums), producing 3 CDs (for local fans only at the time), playing the piano for a wedding, playing the piano at a wedding reception, DJing for another wedding, DJing at a club in Toronto, DJing at youth event gatherings, hosting 2 clubs in Toronto with a team of 2 others, sold music to a GM representative for an internal car commercial, and much more. In 1999, James eventually took a 7 year hiatus from DJing to work as an Information Technologies Analyst for the University Health Network, but never lost the passion to keep producing new music from time to time. Eventually he left to do other computer related work, but is now returning to the music world with greater focus and new songs seasoned with the skills forged over the years.
