My Plastic People Vol.2 Mixed By Original Gidman

For me, the impact of this unassuming basement club ‘Plastic People’‘ on not only London but also UK club culture is immeasurable. So many factors contributed to this…… whether it was all night residencies from some of the biggest DJ’s in the game….. François Kevorkian, Theo Parrish, Four Tet, Floating Points, Gilles Peterson and more; whether it was the development of musical movements…. Broken Beat in Co-Op, Dubstep in FWD or the eclectic CD-R nights… whether it was the amazing and now legendary sound system or the clubs intimacy (not holding more than 200 people) and of course the clubs founding father Abdul ‘Ade’ Forsyth …. All these factors contributed to its 20 year success.

I feel extremely fortunate to have played on the ‘Plastic People’ sound system (be it only once – the memory will continue to stay with me) and it’s been a real joy digging for this mix, representing my time at the club as a punter, and as a DJ….
