This is a PROTEST song, written when I bought gas in 06 after Katrina and saw someone had put $46.44 of gas in their tank. Although it's common now, at the time I was outraged spending that kind of money for fuel.
It was just after the Iraq war and I was outraged.
I was also protesting WDAM's plan to carry FOX news on one of the Digital sub carriers.
The Dick reference is to Rupert Murdock, who owns FOX and who was a catalyst in my decision not to work for Big Media ever again. (Hopefully).
The last part of this song is an aside about Mississippi and a reference to Joseph Campbel's belief that the land you inhabit is, to you , the Holy Land.
