Elvis Aaron Presley (January 8, 1935 – August 16, 1977), also known by his first name, was an American singer and actor. Regarded as one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century, he is often referred to as the “King of Rock and Roll” or simply "the King".

That's All Right Mama" is a song written and originally performed by blues singer Arthur Crudup and It is best known as the debut single recorded and released by Elvis. Presley's version was recorded on July 5, 1954, and released on July 19, 1954.

On September 9, 1956, Presley made his first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show, even though Sullivan had previously vowed never to allow this vulgar Presley on the show.

Elvis mythology states that Sullivan censored Presley by only shooting him from the waist up. Sullivan may have helped create the myth when he told TV Guide, "as for his gyrations, the whole thing can be controlled with camera shots." In truth Presley's whole body was shown in the first and second shows, but not on he third and final appearance on January 6, 1957. This last appearance drew 54.6 million viewers.

Years later, Sullivan tried to sign the singer up again... He phoned Presley's manager, ‘Colonel’ Tom Parker, and asked about a price. Parker came up with a list of instructions and conditions and after hearing the demands Sullivan said, 'Give Elvis my best—and my sympathy,' and he hung up.
