So this afternoon, Dee posted her farewell to Souncloud.......I knew, and feared this day would come. Dee and I have been recording for 3 plus years now.......and countless tracks....so many, I lost count. I came to SC for one reason only, to find a blues singer like her! Someone who understands the blues, and to grow musically with. That we have done! In our last tracks together, we used to joke about how we could anticipate......and finish each others musical phrases......like some old blues married couple! After my first disappearance, from SC, I was disgusted with my own work.....feeling I had hit a wall. When I returned.....I sent her a track that was fast and furious.....a Jonny Winter tribute. She said she liked it.....but I was showing off a bit...and she preferred to hear me tell a story!....words taken to heart.....but tonight I want to show off, and tell a story of my best blues mamma!
Dee has carried herself with grace, and courage during her illness.....and her unselfish attitude still allowed her to be a care giver to her loving husband, advocate for her disease, and recording her music, selling, and donating the proceeds to charity to fight this terrible conditions!
I promised I was not going to publicly say goodbye to her.....because we will remain dear friends beyond SC. But tonight, my bourbon and guitar got the best of me, as I reminisce about my love, and friendship with Dee.....l
God bless my friend!
