Sounds of The Barbary Ghost

Alameda, CA, USA

"The Barbary Ghost believes the most memorable musical experiences happen at the crossroads. For over 25 years, they have crafted genre-defying journeys that reveal unexpected connections between artists, cultures, movements, and eras, creating temporary worlds where the familiar and the unknown share the same dance floor. Equal parts curator, explorer, and storyteller. Their sets are designed to spark curiosity, reward adventurous listeners, and foster a sense of community through the shared experience of musical discovery."

DJ and music producer of over 25 years. Originally I DJ'd under the name Rick A. Mortis, and focused my sets on Deathrock, Punk, New Wave, Goth-Rock, and related styles. As i got older I changed my name to DJ FACT.50 for about 15 years. A reference to one of my formative albums "New Order - Movement (Factory Records Catalog #50)". As I got even older, I realized I was into so much different music and spinning in so many different types of scenes, I needed a new handle. I also realized that I needed to tie all of my different musical pursuits together under one brand name. The Barbary Ghost came about as a reference to my love and pride for the Bay Area of SF California. My home for over 25 years. I am comfortable spinning for hours on end to either huge crowds of patrons, or more chill and intimate ocassions.

My last 15 years of mixes can be found at mixcloud.com/thebarbaryghost, however I am slowly transferring them here as well.
