Soul Power (The Feeling Begins)

Hey all,

This is my first upload in almost 12 months. Hopefully you are still with me.

Thought I'd kick it off with one of my electro workouts as I’m still not ready to start writing songs - they're not too far away. On the bright side I like this one.

Nobody will believe me but the sound and idea for this track came to me in a dream. I guess I wanted to capture the universal nature of “soul” music by combining unrelated pieces of music. Not to get all spiritual on you, but soul music is soul music no matter where it comes from. Anyway, that is the idea.

I used the following samples:

· “Soul Power” by James Brown

· “The Feeling Begins” by Peter Gabriel

· “Stand” by Sly & The Family Stone

· “I Have A Dream” speech by Martin Luther King Jr

· A 1960’s television interview by James Baldwin

Beyond that it is all East Village Vampire.

In the end, the track comes out as some kind of Arabic, soul techno fusion. To my mind it works and has some pretty cool moments.

Needless to say, I don’t own the rights to the samples. But since I don’t intend to do anything commercial with the track I guess it doesn't matter.
