I am not really sure what to make of ‘Fine Feathered Friends’.

It is an unfinished song that I recorded back in 2006. You can tell it is unfinished as I repeat the first verse and never worked out a chorus. For some reason this song seemed to fall between the cracks and has remained neglected. I do that every now and then.

The music is a bit early 70’s Pink Floyd (an era that I don’t love, I’m much more of a Syd Barrett kind of guy). It has some nice guitar playing at times and an interesting vocal harmony. In my opinion it probably lacks a bit of excitement - maybe it is why I could never be bothered to complete it.

What lyrics the song has are basically an ode to school days.

Oh yeah, the main drum line is a sample from Iron Butterfly's 'Soldier In Our Town'. As is often the case I loop a single beat when writing. It is also me just being lazy and not wanting to record live drums or set up a full drum sequence. Obviously I don't own the rights to the sample.

Not much more to say about this track.

Hope you enjoy.

LYRICS...

Fine feathered friends I’ll be grateful until the end
We were young and raised the dead with the things we did and said
Now I’m sitting home along just waiting by the telephone
Did I lose my way?
Did I change from day to day?

Remember the times when we dared to cross the line
We were young and raised the dead with the things we did and said
Now show me the way
I want to run back to those days
When we were kings of the round kicking about our piece of ground

Hey, it’s been a while...
Hey, it’s been a while...
