I met Nuno from Kêtu records (@k-etu-records) when I was in Ethiopia. We had both been invited at Kidus place for the live recording of his 716 mix : Blowing In The Horn Of Africa. Damien from Phocéephone (@phoceephone) had already recorded a mix for 716 too : Machreq Mix. I had proposed Nuno to do a mix for 716 straight after I met him in Addis. It took two years and finally, it's a selection of beautiful Sudanese music digged by both Nuno & Damien, Kêtu & Phocéephone. What is their common point? the Sahara and the steppes were a natural meeting point between Nuno who works on West Africa and Damien on the Maghreb. The starting point was the frequency of the reference to Sudan (the country of the Black people, in Arabic) in gnawi music.
