Special ED has been DJing Drum n’ Bass and Jungle since 1996, influenced heavily by the Ragga and Jump-Up styles of the time. Ed rapidly mastered the art of mixing records and was playing a crucial part in Victoria’s early Drum n’ Bass scene by 1997. By the end of the 90's, through his involvement with Whitebird Records and pure dedication to his music - he had amassed one of the largest collection of wax, as well as one of the longest résumé’s of any DJ in Victoria. Since 2000 Ed has resided (or played at least once) at every regular Drum n’ Bass function in Victoria and Vancouver, working with various production companies such as Whitebird Records, 420 Kru, Ground Level Productions, Royal Platoon, Automatic, SHAH DJ's and Digital Motion. Special ED has played alongside some of the VIP Drum n’ Bass - Jungle DJ's, producers and MC's to grace Victoria & Vancouver, such as Spectrasoul, DJ SS, Remarc, Dieselboy, AK1200, General Malice. Nickey Blackmarket, Mikey Finn, Aphrodite, Artificial Intelligence, Slip & Slide, Marcus Visionary, Lush, John B, A Sides, Mathematics, Sigma, Capital J Ed Rush & Optical, Eskman, L-Natural and Caddy Cad to mention a few. Now living in Vancouver Special ED has teamed up with the Automatic Cru, Vancouver's longest standing D&B group. Special ED has started Low Frequency Theory on futurepressure.com bringing you the best in Drum & Bass, Jungle music every Tuesday 2pm to 4pm PST, 5pm to 7pm EST & 10pm to 12am GMT. As of late Special ED has been recruited by Flex Records a seminal Jungle/D&B label.
