Shade Chylde

Albany, NY, United States

Born in 1983, and raised all over (both in and out of the U.S.), Shade was raised early on to appreciate music and sounds that appealed to his ears and his soul. Coming from parents that regularly played music at roof-rocking volumes, he was exposed to a wide variety of music from a very young age. From his Dad's penchant for Heavy Metal, Classic Rock, Blues, and Progressive Rock, to his Mother's love of everything From Indie, Punk, Classic Country, Old School Chicago House Music, and even Early Hip Hop, Shade was schooled to like what sounded good to him. And DAMN the masses!
He spent a lot of time off and on, living with his Grandmother and Grandfather, who instilled his Irish heritage and exposed him to the music of his familial culture, along with legends the likes of Benny Goodman, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennet, Patsy Cline, and The Lawrence Welk Orchestra. He even was provided a rich exposure to 1920's "Big Band" and Swing music, which would later inspire him to pick up the first of many musical tools he would learn to utilize, the Clarinet.
In the mid 1990's Shade, being a rebellious and "rough around the edges" youth, found acceptance and peace of mind within the Goth Culture, immersing himself almost exclusively in the works of pioneers like Wumpscut, Razed in Black, Project Pitchfork, Apoptygma Berzerk, and staples like Ministry, Skinny Puppy, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Switchblade Symphony, and many more!
This was when he first found out that sounds could be made both digitally, and by manipulating vinyl records.
This was the birth of his interest in DJ'ing.
During this time, DJ'ing was almost exclusively "limited" in his world-view, and by his generation, to Dance music and Hip Hop. Shade didn't own many records within those boundaries, so he began experimenting with the sounds he grew up with and had collected over his short lifespan. He began experimenting with mixing sounds that he was told "didn't belong together" and realizing some very unique and unorthodox things could be done by making those connections "forbidden" by the opinions of his peers.
And So Shade found a hobby and a social-performance outlet, never once thinking of it as a career path, or a business.

So we'll fast forward to the early winter of 2012.

Now living in Orlando, FL. and, disenfranchised by his day job, and other human beings being held accountable for his destiny, Shade woke up one day, quit his shitty restaurant job, and took a trip to the music store. Within a matter of hours, after a disturbing dream, Shade decided to forge his OWN destiny, and to be the only one who would ever again be held accountable for his future.
Since that day, he hasn't looked back.
Shade began by accepting everything across a broad spectrum, from "boring" event-based gigs as a glorified human-jukebox, to pestering local bar and nightclub owners to give him a chance (until they relented), and even collaborating with many other DJ's, producers, event services companies, and promoters, regardless of even having met them in person prior or the format he was expected to fit. Shade made himself the guy you could call last-minute to come two hours and fill two slots due to complications.
Reliability and his WORD became tantamount to eating, sleeping, and even breathing.
Shade began doing everything he could to fulfill his ultimate goal of doing something he loved as a full time job, one he was passionate about, and for the first time in his life, loved more than anything.
And Shade has not had to take shit from anyone since.
Is it a Struggle? Sure.
Did he come to the party a little late? Absolutely.
Will he let anything stop him from progressing, and ultimately succeeding?
Hell No.
The journey has just become FUN.
