This beautiful poem was written by Diane di Prima, one of the founding members (and one of the few female writers to have been acknowledged as an integral member) of the Beat Movement. In the 50’s and 60’s, while living in Manhattan, she founded Poet’s Press and co-founded the New York Poet’s Theatre.
