"The Latin phrase 'sub rosa' means 'under the rose', and is used in English to denote secrecy or confidentiality. The rose has held a deeply symbolic significance in many times and cultures as a symbol of regeneration, purity, virginity, fertility, sexuality, secrets, and most of all, love. In 'sub rosa' for amplified female voice and violin the text in the voice part is based on synonyms for 'sub rosa' while the violin part is a transcription of 'Per solatz revelhar', a poem written by troubadour Giraut de Bornelh."
