I have been watching a series on the Science channel about travel to Mars. While watching this show I was writing this song. Hence the influence.

This song started as one of the songs in 7/4 time that I would place on my ProgRockDan Instrumentals site.

This song draws a comparison between European exploration of North America and Man's first colony on Mars.

Here are the lyrics:
On to Mars

Verse 1:
Many years ago
European man
Left on a journey
To a new world
Not knowing where it was
Or how to live

Chorus:
Now the time has come
To leave this planet
New explorations
On to mars

Verse 2:
The Vikings
Then Columbus
Came to North America
Communities were formed
Jamestown, Plymouth, and Port Royal
The Lost county of Roanoke

Verse 3:
European’s brought
Diseases
Native populations vanished
Spain, France, and England
Fought each other for resources
They all took from
Native Americans

Verse 4:
Now the Next journey begins
A new colony
On a new planet
Only a question of when
