Primary [colours] Mix Series #12 - Kenneth Christiansen

As 2016 draws to a close it is with great honour and pleasure that we present our final podcast for the year from the one and only Kenneth Christiansen.

The term "legend" is not thrown around lightly here at PC HQ and we consider this man one of them. Kenneth has been an inspiration to us and many around the world with his pioneering sound both as an individual artist and as part of Pattern Repeat as well as his influential label "Echocord and Echocord Colour".

Kenneth has brought many artists to the scene and exposed them to the wider techno community including the likes of Mikkel Metal, Deadbeat, Fluxion, Brendon Moller, Luke Hess, STL, Resoe and Quantec. A true pioneer in the dub techno scene following from the likes of Basic Channel and Maurizio.

Kenneth has played at some of the most infamous clubs including Fabris, Tresor, Berghain and Panaorama Bar not to mention festivals such as Sonar, Dimension and ADE.

Kenneth Christiansen has long been the guardian of dub techno’s second wave. The Dane & likeminded friends also built their very own techno temple in the form of Copenhagen’s intimate Culture Box. Revered all around the world for its focus on quality music and local resident talent, it remains the only place to hear such deep sounds in the city of Denmark.

More than a decade after starting his label there have been almost 100 EPs and LPs that have constantly updated and revisited the techno and dub template and have very much contributed to the careers of those that release on it.

As a DJ, Kenneth has been spinning ever since the beginning of the 90’s, immediately picking up gigs all around Europe because of his unique style and tightly honed sonic vision. Few people manage to remain credible and engaged with the underground over such a long period of time, but thanks to his devotion to his city, sounds and the scene, this man has managed it with ease and is here to stay.

We are sure you will enjoy this hour long mix exclusively done for us here at Primary Colours.

This mix was recorded live at Culture Box playing Vinyl only as Kenneth only does. The mix gives a great insight to the city of Denmark and the vibe Kenneth creates at Culture Box whether it be a warm up set or an early morning closer.
