Phon.o's latest EP Cracking Space Pt. 2 continues on from the excellent work he recently carried out on Cracking Space Pt. 1. Like its predecessor this EP is a thrilling venture into the nexus between Burial-esque night bus appropriate garage, and heavy Berlin Techno. 'Whi5tleblower' is a propulsive opener underpinned by a ferocious garage beat that occasionally recedes into dub-y dread inducing atmospherics, before inevitably getting even heavier and more intense. 'Defrost' is a particularly massive and sophisticated floor filler that features a tense emotional edge, while 'Crystal Math' is a shimmering and hazy atmospheric palate-cleanser.
