Tom Nir was born on May 18th 1993 in Guayaquil, Ecuador and moved to Hanover, Germany at two years old. Growing up, he was exposed mostly to classical music, which quickly sparked his interest in making music himself: it was around 6 years of age that he began to wonder how single notes could sound so good when played in the right order. His teen years were spent focussed on refining his taste for music of different genres rather than making his own, with only occasional ventures into different instruments - until he met Techno, Tech House and their more minimalistic descendants, that is.
That instantly kick-started his need to put something out there: He started to learn DJ-ing, and soon afterwards made his first advances into producing electronic music.
Now, over 3 years later, he got the chance to play a major role in the creation of a series of events called Junkyard, taking place in the club TIEFGANG in his hometown of Hanover. Since than, most of his energy is spent on his DJ-sets and Junkyard, all while spending every free minute learning to produce his own Tracks.
Tom Nirs very recognizable sets are influenced by the darker and harder styles of italian and spanish Tech House, often hovering right on the border to Techno; although he will never fully turn away from the groovy rythms of the Deep Tech/Minimal scene.
