Hot on the heels of his Love Dust EP on dJ Heather's Blackcherry label, Nico K opens the vault gates from the last year of late studio nights to release music on his own imprint HOTSTUFF. To start things off nicely & properly go back to roots, here we present his underground refix of the seminal hip hop cut 'Chief Rocker,' holding the dancefloor down with a big subby bassline and filtered vocal edits, all mixed with the dirty tech flavor of an LA underground allnighter. 'The Underground' rounds off the package with a funky jazz laden vibe, and no samples on this one folks, all keys played live and given the house retouch. Casually recorded and produced in Chicago as a collab with an enigmatic producer that will remain unknown for now, this version initially began its life as an unreleased dubstrumental of an older tune.. the vocal sample was removed to give this jazzy jacker room to breathe, and the result was unpredictably wonderful and needed to be shared.
