MR G

Johannesburg, South Africa

South African Producer Shaun Govender a.k.a Mr G is not new to the music industry. His earliest releases include Movida and Hirimiki which were widely received and loved across South Africa. In 2016 he featured on SABC 1’s Masters Of Spin where he showed off his mixing and production skills amongst the country’s elite.
The impact he had on the TV show got him the recognition he needed to hit the industry as an independent artist. Not long after releasing his debut album titled Gqom Power vol.1, Mr G was faced with a situation that many young, unsigned artists face when one of his singles was stolen by a popular South African artist. This however did not keep him down. He then went on to release a new single titled Le Walk. Le Walk is a hit single from Mr G’s Gqom Power Vol 1 project which he dropped on the 9th of October 2017.
Mr G then featured on another SABC TV Show during October 2018 titled The Remix SA. He was the producer of the group called The Headliners. The group made it to the Top 3 across South Africa. Starting 2019 with no mercy, Mr G has decided to take Gqom to his own cultural roots and remix a Bollywood song to a heavy dance floor banger titled Yaa Naa Miley (Mr G Gqom Power Remix). Mr G’s ambitions are to dominate both the African and international market with his unique Gqom sound and leave a lasting legacy as a South African Gqom innovator.
Mr G’s love and passion for Gqom is rooted in Durban since he experienced it in illegal Gqom trap houses, taverns and clubs where he was often booked. Born on 13th February 1990 in the Home of Gqom (KZN), Mr G was first attracted to eletronic music in his young ages and was always an addict of bass therefore the sound he makes now is an obvious inspiration. The Black Indian EP was released on the 16th of July 2018 as a dedication to his own unique sound as well as a remastered version of Le Walk. A Bonus track to this EP was a tribute to the Late Avicci. A Gqom Power Remix of the popular hit track Silhouettes. This was released as a free download and has been making dance floors lit since the first play.
