This podcast is a special edition of the Out of Africa series, and revels in the music of North Africa. It features the music of Algeria, Morocco, Northern Mali, Egypt and the Sudan.

While diverse in sound, all of the tracks are typical of the African sound in general which borrows from a wide range of influences, both inside and beyond the reaches of the continent itself.

There are standout tracks from the Grammy Award winning Touregs of the Sahara Desert, Tinariwen and Algeria's Electric Rai Band.
