7. Mike Callander at Honkytonks, 2005 (before Matthew Dear) original

In 2005 I was 25 years old, playing as a resident in one of the greatest nightclubs in Australian (and arguably international) history, and I'm sure I was entirely unaware of how much it would shape the rest of my DJ career. Honkytonks.

Matthew Dear visited Australia for the first time in the second half of that year, and he gave me nothing but support for this set. His words of encouragement set me off on a hungry quest to be warming up for all of my favourite and most inspirational artists. The additional support of Michael Delany from Honkytonks over those years helped me achieve that goal, and throughout that pursuit I developed the confidence to play anywhere and with anyone.
