40 years ago, on 9 Feb 1980, the >Homenaje a Canito< was held, a concert in memory of the drummer of Madrid based band Tos who had died earlier that year in a traffic accident. This event is widely considered as the starting point of the >Movida madrileña< (I'd rather call it española), a countercultural movement in post-Franco Spain.

The set is by no way an overview of the Madrid or Spanish Scene, rather the result of my investigation which is on the superficial level of some newspaper & Wikipedia articels and Youtube playlists.

After a short intro I showcase (starting at 3:55) what has been selected as >12 best Spanish Punk songs< by an expert gremium in elpais.com/elpais/2020/01/09/i...071_586448.html, in reverse order as they are described in the linked article. In the next section of the set (37:20) I present some of the bands that participated in the Canito Memorial concert, followed by the 3rd section (42:05) with some of my own faves. After Arias Navarros' final words (1h 15:40) the set is finished with a couple of pretty lofi & hardcore tracks.
