An experiment to try out some arrangement and mixing techniques I've been learning. I figured out how to align tracks in Ardour so the rhytmic sloppiness you hear is all my own now. Can't be blamed on tools. Arrangment technique: Start from a short pattern that forms the "peak" of the song, copy it out to span the desired length of the song, then carve out a song by removing stuff, trying to keep the listener interested all the way through. Mixing technique studied is to use high pass filters to place sounds higher vertically in the sound field and reduce muddiness. The synth is polysaw. I changed the filters from SEM-inspired to MS20-inspired. I also removed the second osc and added some linear drift to the first oscillator instead. Tuning is a meantone with stretched octaves.
