Left for Love

A sucker for a good re-edit or re-work of classic Soul, Funk, Disco and occasionally House tunes, but a decent groove and a pulsing bass line are a must.

Left for Love's DJ sets are a heady fusion of classic and modern dance tunes with a strong leaning towards the soulful and funky. The emphasis is always on the dance floor with pulsating bass lines, killer keys, rasping horns and soaring vocals, all laid lovingly over a foot shuffling back beat.

A child of the Second Summer of Love and the Madchester scene, LfL's formative years during the late 80s and early 90s were spent on the dance floors and in the illegal raves of the North West of England (The Hacienda, Cream, Quadrant Park, Shaboo /The Abattoir, Unit 7etc -the list goes on by my memory isn’t what it once was!) Left for Love's musical tastes were forged listening to DJing Goliaths such as Pickering/Park, DaSilver, Weatherall, Sasha et al. together with the underground heroes of the Blackburn Warehouse circuit.

As the scene changed and age took its toll on the body and the mind, music from LfL's childhood years came back to the forefront with Soul, Funk and Disco providing a new musical soundtrack.

Never one to be pigeon holed or genre stereo typed, track selection is eclectic and varied with the possibility of a few surprises thrown in to take you off the beaten track. Always looking forward but never afraid of digging into the back catalogue for retrospective gems and classics that send shivers down the spines of those who heard them first time around.

Mixing style varies according to track selection but long luscious fades, short teasers and harmonically homogenous mixes are generally the order of the day to ensure the listener is carried along on a musical rollercoaster.

Recently started tentative first steps into the production side of things mainly in terms of DJ edits for use in sets.
