What is westcoast music, AOR or Yacht Rock ? This music sending up the smooth likes of the Doobie Brothers, Hall & Oates, Steely Dan, Michael Mc Donald and Christopher Cross. The term has only gained strength, coming to describe a whole smooth aesthetic that existed roughly from 1975 to 1982, expanding far beyond the white soft-rockers of LA and encompassing smooth jazz and "Yacht Soul."The music ushers in that familiar feeling of sipping cool rum drinks in the middle of the summer, and not needing to take life so seriously.

It serves as proof of the cyclical nature of most music trends and how the good stuff always seems to stick around. With "Drive West down Sunset to the Sea" LATE NIGHT DREAM celebrate the soft sounds of the mid '70s, and the early 80's borned in Southern California. Mr O and Dr Wu are paying tribute to that expanded definition, collecting their favorite sounds, songs, and grooves from an era when smooth meant everything.
