As The late Charles Aznavour sang in 1980, « je fantasme » which means « I’m in a fantasy », I’m indeed in a complete fantasy and even pinch myself while I’m looking once again at our second track listing for this « L.A French connection volume 2 ». This is truly something wonderful having all these artists reunited all together on this project, a clever introduction to their American inspired music that each of them has made and recorded between the seventies and the late eighties. And what we especially love as far as this soulful French affair is concerned is the fact we also selected artists from the old guard which are viewed as the most important and unmistakable icons from the traditional French music. Amazing to see them on the set. Even those who you even couldn’t expect a soulful sound from !

To succeed in this difficult task, We made a lot of hard research to bring you the diversity and nearly examinated all the discographies like devoted doctors. Music for the classic audiophile listeners as much as boogies for the toe tapper ... everybody will find joy hearing the result. You’ll see how American music made it’s impact on our French culture and how we kept on grooving while we played with our language. From this unbelievable track from Sylvie Vartan (that will soon steal for another set), to this crazy goodness in some David Koven grooves.

You also got the best tracks from Michel Fugain, another great unsung funkateer for sure and one of our national heroes in good french music. Discover the most Stevie wonder influenced song by Bernard Lavilliers, another key figure from the alternative and creative French poetry.

Labels like Famous jazzmen, Eddie Barclay’s came automatically to my mind as the most active in soul, funk and disco in France.

François Feldman but also Didier Makaga made their first records on Barclay before living for Wea.
What a good thing to have Michel berger and Véronique Sanson on this compilation. It means a lot to us cause they are pioneers and worked together. Take a trip to these hidden and classic treasures. Your knowledge will Thank you.
