HUMAN ? What is it to be human ? What makes me, as a radio dj, Human ? Emotions obviously. The old Man Vs Machine dichotomy. Also maybe the ability to pick songs for personnal reasons, the joy of not being an algorithm, not being programmed, being free to play only the intro of the song, or the last note, to chop it, loop it, mix it with another song, have someone in mind when picking it and hope they'll listen to it.

For this mix, I tried to:

• go back to my early and most intense musical findings,
• using my memory first and then digging into my physical record collection,
• picking early recordings by the artists that were most influential in my life,
• either because they are the music of my generation (Aphex Twin, Four Tet, Deadelus, Dj Shadow, The Chemical Brothers, Basement Jaxx, Beastie Boys),
• because my father played all the time (Santana, Dire Straits, The Beatles, Supertramp),
• because I'm proud of French culture (Serge Gainsbourg, Mr Oizo, Daft Punk)
• and open to the World (Brasil, Calypso).
• over the years, my favourite way to discover music was to find the original samples of songs I liked (Patti Page, Diana Ross, Carrie Lucas).
• I've shyed away from playing too much rock or metal for fear of antagonizing listeners over my passion for Suicidal Tendancies, Faith No More or Iron Maiden and kept only a classic Motorhead.

I'll galdly admit the mix is weird but ain't that what makes us human above all ? It's personal, can it be universal ?
