In the late 80's a new sound emerged from USA, which was to be dubbed New Jack Swing by Village Voice writer Barry Michael Cooper. A young Teddy Riley was the key propellant in creating this new sound, thanks to his masterful production touch on Keith Sweat's 1987 debut album "Make It Last Forever". Shortly after a flood of groups and solo artists would constitute a new musical movement, which was a concoction of classic R&B vocals, Hip Hop beats and the structure of Pop Dance arrangement as well as the business image of the latter.

Alongside many other excting musical forms of that time, it played a crucial part in my own musical indoctrination, despite New Jack Swing representing quite the antagonism of say, underground House and Techno back then. However, it always puts me in a good mood and at the end of the day that's what really matters to me.
