127 bpm, progressive techno. I worked on this track for two days and really liked the way it was shaping up. I took a break and went to see a talk at our local college leadership program with my partner. The speaker was Kat Cole, CEO of Cinnabon. Several of the things she said resonated with me - one of which is the phrase "be careful who your idols are". I came home and with those words running through my head started working on the track again. I was going to record some vocals to mix in, it occurred to me that I could borrow from Kat but when I listened to what I already had done I can already hear those words in the french oboe melody. So I left it alone. A more important concept for me though is that too many people in our society idolize things: objects, "possessions", other people - I want to remind everyone (myself included) that the only idols that it is healthy to worship are the GODS that we so easily bury deep within ourselves. None of the others can help us. Peace friends.
