In recent light of the Charlie Hebdo attack it is important to remember that 20% of the human population follows the teachings of Islam, a religion derived from Eastern lands home to many rich and beautiful cultures. When acts of violence stem from any religion or spiritual teaching it is easy to adopt a negative perspective of those who identify with those beliefs, so we avoid their friendship out of fear and misunderstanding. Within the The 1.5 billion followers of Islam it is only a select few who want violence. Let us not forget the potential friends we could be making, the love of the world we can share and the bridges to peace.
