A mix inspired by Dash Rush's LP, Sleepstep, released in March 2015. Of all the music I heard last year, this collection of 16 tracks, about the halfway stage between deep sleep and wakefulness, captured my imagination more than any other.
Resident Advisor said, "These 16 pieces are transmissions from that state between sleep and wakefulness, when your dreams take on a particularly vivid and outrageous quality. Sometimes they bolt you awake in a feverish panic, sometimes you drift on in delicious languor. More often, those dreams simply tantalise you. They are elusive, indecipherable, and all the more compelling for their ambiguity. This is the tone of Sleepstep."
I wanted to weave these separate tracks into a single mix with other artist's tunes, to provide my interpretation of Dasha Rush's original vision of sonar poems for her sleepless friends.
