An age-young struggle that few can declare themselves an exception to, is the mission of self-discovery. For singer-songwriter Golden Kisz, the struggle to find herself and her calling ended the first time he picked up one of his relation’s piano. “That was it. I started teaching myself by listening to country, High Life, Hip Hop and classic rock Songs. Eventually I started taking lessons, singing and, before I knew it, I was writing songs.” With a genuine, heart-felt drive and influence from an all-star list that includes Iyanya, The Eagles, Mavins Crew and Twa Savage, his sound is a perfect balance of African Afro-Beat Jams and the honest sensibilities of the country genre. The combination, perfectly demonstrated through her upcoming album release, continues to set his apart from others in Dr Sid's music scene.
The decision to move to Music City immediately proved positive as Golden Kisz quickly gained the respect of top musicians and songwriters, co-writing with hit songwriters Kecee Lipopo, Mr. Songz and Wizkid, among others. His talent landed him a first place win in the 2016 Video Ninja Hit Track Submission. In all, his performance and songwriting skills have provided him the opportunity to open for several major acts and his songs have been featured on several Rsdio Stations and Music Social media.
Currently at work on his first full-length album with Agu Boiz and South Africa nominated producer Mr. Roey, Kisz's new material is honest in content and exceptional in artistry. “The music on this project is the best I’ve written to-date, thanks to my growth as an artist and writer. It's a reflection of how living in Nigeria has shaped me - for better or for worse.” Drawing inspiration from his life and the lives of others, his primary motivation in everything he does remains helping others. “Hop Hop music is all about stories – happy, sad, fun, reflective – and I love being a storyteller. My hope is always that, through those stories, someone will hear and say, ‘someone else out there gets me’, whether it be a happy or sad moment.” He also spends time volunteering for local charity Musicians On Call, which delivers the healing power of music through on-site performances for those undergoing medical treatment.
As a final four contestant, he had the opportunity to sing his original song “African Bongo” with the country music superstar on national TV.
