GC007 - Javi Frias - Discotizer EP - Vinyl & Digital OUT NOW

After a short hiatus GC Records returns to turntables all over the globe with a brand new EP from Madrid's main man Javi Frias. Fresh from a release on Rahaan's Street Edits and with a release for Lumberjacks In Hell forthcoming, things are looking good for the Spaniard, and this tasty four tracker will do his reputation no harm. The set opens in punchy, peaking fashion with a dancefloor tribute to everyone's favourite red lemonade "Discotizer". Boasting the same sugar rush energy as the popular beverage, the cut powers into the mainroom on a solid 4/4 and filtered bassline, exploding into lights, colours and e numbers with funk guitars, squelchy moog and lively brass. One for hot nights under the mirror ball I feel. Brass and bass odyssey "Let's Shake Some Action" keeps the peaktime vibe alive, strutting its stuff at the uptempo crossroads between disco, funk and soul. Javi opts for a long and looped arrangement, locking us into the groove before the tripped out moog leads nicely into the female vocal - big stuff for the big DJ. B-side opener "Memories" rides a hard hitting disco groove deep into the depths of a filter before breaking through into the golden lights beyond. Javi certainly has an ear for a bassline, moving our hips while the sustained strings and emotive vocals keep the hands aloft. Last but not least, the Spaniard serves up "Do You Want My Sugar", a Chic styled disco funk bomb with plenty of breaks to go wild to.
