We were discovering a few new producers who were exalting a sound with a more organic feel to them, while at the same time managing to sound like no one could physically play the tracks on regular instruments. With this in mind we started playing about with a number of different “world music” records to try and find something as far removed from electronica as possible.

In the end, having collected some nice oohs and ahhs, we were left with a cut and paste sample pack of various drum fills. Perhaps our favourite part of “live percussion” is the fills that drummers do to lead into another progression; it can be, in some genres, the only chance a drummer has to show his skills. Copying and pasting all the fills together left us with a bizarre hodge podge of disprate toms and snares all thumping away with an arcane menace; we loved it. We loved it so much, in fact, that we repeated the whole thing for around 6mins, sprinkled it with our, probably trademark by now, stupid bass synth and called it krakatoa

we hope you like it,
