Escape the Mundane (ETM) is a deep electronic music project by Rotterdam-based selector DJ Marcel. Stripped from commercial formats and corporate noise, ETM operates on a singular, pure foundation: “DJ'ing for FUN.”
Rooted in a lifelong obsession with sound, light frequencies, and the nocturnal energy of the early club culture, this project is a rejection of the predictable daily grind—a dedicated space to disconnect and dissolve into the soundscape.

Curation is everything. Navigating strictly between 121 and 125 BPM, the Escape the Mundane sound is an uncompromising blend of deep atmospheric layers, hypnotic basslines, and slow-burning, intricate progressions. While Progressive House and Melodic House dictate the core narrative, the sets regularly bleed into dark, driving Melodic Techno. These extended, multi-hour mixes are carefully constructed audio rituals [3] designed for those who seek to wear their headphones, let the frequencies take control, and escape the ordinary world.
