Escape Artist - Sad Music Makes People Happy

I tried to do something a bit different with this mix. Often when I play drum and bass it's a throwdown of the latest dubs and recent bangers. However, for a few short weeks this year I had access to my Technics turntables, so I aimed to record a set with deeper meaning and the tracklist more thought out.

Recently, there's been a few losses in the drum and bass scene to some very talented people suffering from mental health problems. Even the happiest people in the world have low moments; for me music is an outlet and creating this mix helped me to deal with some anxiety I had at the time.

In doing so, I've attempted to showcase tunes from across the drum and bass spectrum, spending hours buying tracks, selecting which ones would 'fit', arranging them, mixing and mixing over and over until I could find an order that I was happy with harmonically. The process of getting the mix complete took around four weeks of on and off work, a labour of love. It's by no means perfect and there's things I would change if I'd had more time. Nonetheless I hope you enjoy it.
