Most of my teenage years I spent listening to Trance, Techno, Rap, Hip Hop and R&B. At age 14 I started mixing with two ordinary CD players. It was awful and did not sound pleasant but I learned to listen to melodies as beat mixing was out of a question. At 18 I bought my first pair of belt drive decks. I visited the UK on and off and bought Garage tapes at Camden market in London, I discovered Garage first then House.
I moved to Leeds, West Yorkshire in 1998 to study and blew most of my career development loan on records and going out. I had discovered what today is classic House through Kenny Dope Gonzales, Little Louie Vega, Frankie Knuckles, The S Man Roger Sanchez, David Morales, Eric Morillo, K.O.T., George Morell … the list goes on.
