INDIANA'S TOKYO ~HYPER RAVE MIX~ (2013) 320kbit/s

My first out of state show. My buddy Aubrey was doing the music for Anime Central, the anime convention in Indianapolis, IN and I said I'd fly out on my own dime to play. Much thanks to my mom for helping me in getting plane tickets to get out there. A huge reason also for my trip was, I was dating someone long distance at the time and they lived in Indiana. We met up shortly after I arrived, I didn't have a car so we'd have to walk to the gas station for food and stuff. It was very snowy too and left a huge impression on my memory.

I met the bevvy of djs at the hotel where the show was being held, the night I got there. Weird & awkward as fuck but managed to get talking to Aubrey about music and shit for a bit. We got passes and I played the 2nd rave night, after a house set from someone I can't remember. It was terrible, my computer had died the night before and I couldn't get it to start until like 20 minutes before I was supposed to go on. So glad it worked out because I had no backup plan and had this set planned for a long time.

It was the most nervous I had been up until that point for a show, I was announced and Aubrey offered to MC for me, which I had never done before (and only have done once since), for a crowd of maybe 80-150 people, I played rave for an hour & aubrey MC'd. It was a hell of a lot of fun, and somehow I didn't completely bomb. People were getting into it, I managed to play the explicit tracks FAY (fuck all yall) and Yum Yum (a song about enjoying the taste of a good female reproductive organ) to a massive all-ages audience. Shortly after my set, Aubrey went into drunkenly bombing a hardcore set, which was really awesome. I went on the dancefloor and danced hard to the dj chucky track. It was a fucking amazing night, I caught up with him afterwards to say farewell and flew out at 4am on no sleep back home.

I remember working months on this rave set, trying to include everything i could think of to transition from 92-93 styled rave house to more mid-90s hyper techno, with some modern japanese rave peppered in for the anime folks, working up to hhc with heavy rave infusion. I'm proud of this mix, but not happy with it, the mixing isn't that great and definitely not as good as the night of the event itself. I tried to add what didn't get played which had worked in playthroughs previously but I was also getting back to the spaztic breakcore mixing so couldn't quite chill enough to do rave for the time. I'd like to come back to it sometime now, maybe for a live "Rave Mysterio" return. Enjoy!
