Psytrance DJ Solitare
DJ Solitare - Joker Day Mix 2012

A mix that I started while traveling in England on February 29, 'Leap Day'. My DJ name of Solitare was inspired by the book The Solitaire Mystery, in which each chapter is a card in a deck of cards, the middle of which is The Joker. The Joker archetype is one that has followed me throughout my life, and so it struck me strongly when I read the book around the time that I got active in the trance scene.

In the story within the story in this novel, each personified card produced a line of a poem, which the Joker put into order - and this is how I saw a trance DJ working at his best, creating a big-scale story out of the individual stories that great musicians produce. (I spell it with one 'i' to deepen the concept of there being only one 'I' metaphysically.) In the book, Joker Day was February 29 - hence my decision to make a mix on this day.
