I started with 'producing' music when I was about 13 years old using a visual midi editor with which you clicked notes onto the look of a sheet score. Having always been interested in creating music I somehow managed not to learn an instrument to a somewhat advanced skill so that I could create music by playing an instrument. So I had to rely on software for the practical (audio producing) side. I prefer using keyboards and my skill level is enough in order to play around with music theory. Knowing of the theory enabled me to produce music and thanks to good producing software (DAWs) my lack of an instrument skill wasn't an issue. My prefered Genre to listen to has always been EDM stuff. What came out of my 'productions' was always a combination of techno, house or trance. So my interest in producing this kind of music led to my introduction into the electronic music scene by coming into contact with DJs etc.. It took a while for me to consider mixing myself but I got instantly hooked.

Especially worth of mentioning was the fact that mixing is so gratifying in contrast to producing because what you do to the mixer instantly sounds nice (speaking from the viewpoint of sound engineering) and the whole magic phenomenon in the more fast paced edm music such as house, techno, trance with the relaxing breaks and climax, euphoria inducing transitions to the chorus which usually happens to the dancing crowd is at work at every moment behind the mixer and you are the creator of that.
