Sounds of dangellodj

Born in Mozambique. A drummer and bass player since the 1980s. Degree in jazz. Four instruments. Forty years of live performance. dangellodj doesn't just play music — he hears it differently from almost everyone behind a DJ booth.

With a jazz degree shaping his understanding of harmony and arrangement, and decades of live performance teaching him how frequencies behave in real time, he brings something almost no DJ in the world possesses — the complete musical intelligence of a trained musician applied to live electronic music.

His transitions are undetectable not because of software but because he listens like a sound engineer. Years of playing bass and drums built an instinctive command of EQ that he still applies to every transition today — managing frequencies the way a live musician manages dynamics, smoothly and invisibly. More recently, piano and guitar have added a full harmonic dimension to a musical foundation already built on rhythm, groove and feel.

His live sets run on 3 or more simultaneous channels: main music layered in real time with live percussion on the Roland SPD-SX Pro, groove textures from Maschine MK3, keyboard elements and sound design — all flowing through a Pioneer V10 mixer. The result is something no algorithm can predict and no Shazam can identify. Every session is an unrepeatable live performance.

Blending deep house, melodic house, tribal house, progressive house and melodic techno, dangellodj connects African rhythm, Brazilian groove and European melodic sensibility into a single, coherent sound.

DJing since 2013, he has performed at Rock in Rio, Wild Lorosae and Techno Lisbon, and held residencies at MOME Lisboa, Urban Beach Lisboa, Ibiza Beach Club and Clássico Beach Bar by Olivier. Since 2023 his weekly show MyBackyard airs on Move Ibiza Radio, Organica Radio, ResFM, TOPfm and other international stations.

Inspired by Carl Cox, Nicole Moudaber, Dubfire and Richie Hawtin — and driven by the belief that music is a language spoken without words — dangellodj keeps emotion alive in every set.

His first release "Some Sad Times" was written in memory of his mother.
