Welcome to the Cookie-Dough Guest mix where we invite some of favourite DJ / Producers to dig deep into their collections and put together a mix of records that have influenced them over the years.

For this episode we are privileged to have none other than one of the main men on the edits scene at the moment Tony Johns.

Here at Cookie-Dough HQ we are buzzin’ that Tony has taken time out to put together this mix just for us.

Nice one Brother Johns!

beastie boys – posse in effect. this was always my fave track from “license to ill”

timmy thomas – why cant we live together. this is the tom moulton remix, again for those who have not yet heard this version, its fantastic and this song will never age, the content will always be relevant.

rah band – clouds across the moon. this record just makes me feel good (not a guilty pleasure for me)

ned doheny – get it up for love. a fantastic end of the nighter and ticks all the boxes for me.

malcolm mclaren – madam butterfly. amazing fusion of pop and opera, genius.

davy dmx – one for the treble. i was heavily into hip hop culture as a kid and this track represents that time in my life.

public enemy – fight the power. public enemy were the best thing on def jam since run dmc i loved this track and still do.

dizzy rascal – fix up look sharp. really not a fan of uk hip hop or uk garage but this track caught my attention immediately.

jay z – lucifer. excellent paul nice remix.

appo – out in da street. remix from my friend appo, very talented producer and musician ive been lucky enough to work with on a china crisis track.

dubmatix – happy. i think dubmatix is the best modern reggae producer out there, this track features the legendary tippa irie.

ronnie hudson – west coast poplock. gangsta p funk at its best.

chris isaak – wicked game. love this song, this version is from “dynamicron vultan” again an amazing talent ive been blessed to work with more than once.

mr fingers – what about this love. listen to this and tell me the so solid crew are garage!

visage – fade to grey. i was too young for blitz and the new wave scene but a lot of it came to light again in 88 when everyone was searching for their own balearic discovery 12″

gang of 4 – what we all want. sampled by westbam & again for the glider e.p. this is my own re edit of this track.

electra – future. if i had to describe my clubbing experience in london in 1988 with one record it would be this!

grandmasterflash & the furious 5 – superappin. remixed by the pied piper (another amazing musician ive collaborated with)

tenpole tudor – swords of 1000 men. post punk masterpiece, absolute pubstep classic!

so there`s my journey and i hope you enjoy listening as much as i enjoyed putting it together,
PEACE LOVE & MUSIC……. TONY JOHNS
