Sounds of Collioure

REIMEI MUSIC

Collioure is a music project by Japanese producer and DJ Takahiro Nakamura, named after the southern French port town of Collioure—widely known as the birthplace of Fauvism, where Henri Matisse and André Derain redefined artistic expression through bold color and emotional intensity.

Since debuting as a remixer in 2003, Nakamura has continuously explored the relationship between groove, emotion, and atmosphere. Under the Collioure name, he released his first album Colors of the Spirit in 2005, marking the beginning of a long-term artistic journey rooted in refinement rather than trend-driven sound.

Initially shaped by chillout and downtempo aesthetics, Collioure’s music gradually evolved toward Nu-Disco and Deep House, blending club-ready energy with melodic sensitivity. From around 2020 onward, his sonic palette expanded further, incorporating New Jack Swing influences, synth-forward arrangements, and subtle pop elements—reflecting a restless curiosity and an openness to crossing stylistic boundaries.

Across six full-length studio albums and numerous singles and collaborations, Collioure has built a distinctive musical language characterized by warm grooves, emotive melodies, and carefully detailed sound design. His work moves fluidly between dancefloor functionality and introspective listening, resonating with audiences who value both movement and emotional depth.

Collioure has collaborated with vocalists and artists from Japan and abroad, and his releases have appeared on both domestic and international labels, earning support from DJs and selectors across diverse scenes. Whether experienced in a club setting or through headphones, his music consistently emphasizes mood, color, and a timeless sense of beauty.

In 2026, Collioure will release his seventh studio album, representing the next chapter in his evolving sound world—continuing a refined pursuit of expression where club culture meets introspection.
