I think this is the most complicated song I've ever done on my recording station. I needed numerous tracks to record just 6 instruments (Vocal, guitars, bass, drums, percussion). This marks a return to recording using MIDI instrumentation, which involved some things I've never done before, both technically and musically.

Not exactly fitting into the "simple" vibe of this album; but I learned a lot doing this. And there really is a core of simplicity at the center of this song, which, hopefully will still come across.

I wrote it after coming across some of my old poetry (written "to woo women"), and remembered I was a lyricist, too.

WHISPERS

VERSE1:
Old men walk in time to a well-worn drum
Children hear the pipe of secret delights
Mothers want their sons to always be kind
Fathers want daughters to hide

CHORUS:
Whispers of fear in my ear
Capture my heart in a vice
Climbing down steps in the dark
Help me to find the light

VERSE 2:
Shaken to the ground are leaves of the Fall
Only going back when the forest revives
Time restores all things to beginnings and ends
Time doesn’t answer to fear

[CHORUS]

[SOLO: V1, CHORUS]

[V1 Reprise]

TAG:
Time doesn’t answer to fear
Help me to find the light
